GATE 2021 Exam – Latest News

GATE exam 2021 is going to be held on February 6, 7, 13 and 14 and the authorities have announced paper-wise schedule. GATE 2021 registered applicants had got a chance to change preferred exam cities on December 14 and 15. The authorities also have announced the GATE 2021 mock test on the official website on November 25. The admit card/hall ticket of GATE 2021 will be released on January 8, 2021. The authorities will release the answer keys after the entrance examination.

IIT Bombay will release the GATE 2021 result on March 22, 2021. The result will contain candidates’ marks, normalized score and rank. This scorecard of GATE will be valid for the next three years after the date of release. For IIT admissions, the applicants will have to register through COAP. Similarly, the candidates will have to apply through CCMT for NIT admissions. Many PSUs will also conduct recruitment process for GATE qualified candidates.

The eligibility criteria of GATE 2021 have also been relaxed because of covid-19 situation. As per the declaration, candidates in their third year of an undergraduate degree can sit in the exam. IIT Bombay has introduced two new subjects- Humanities and Social Science (XH) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES). Candidates can get the syllabus from the GATE 2021 official brochure..

Note: Candidates who have completed/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India:

GATE 2021 Exam Pattern

Here, candidates can check the complete GATE Exam pattern  in the below given section:

  • Mode: The exam will be conducted in online (CBT) mode.
  • No of Subject Papers: There will be 27 subject papers and out of these two new subject papers – Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) and Humanities & Social Sciences (XS) have been added this year.
  • Type of Sections: There will be two of types of sections in each paper – Compulsory & Optional.
  • Type of Questions: The questions will of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) & Numerical Answer type (NAT).
  • Duration of Exam: The exam will be of total 3 hours.
  • Maximum marks: Maximum marks will be 100.
  • No. of Questions: The question paper will contain 65 questions.
  • Marking Scheme: For MCQs and NATs, questions will be of 1 or 2 marks. In MCQs of 1 mark, 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. Similarly, for MCQs of 2 mark, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect responses. There will be no negative marking for numerical type questions.

Note: There will be NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions.

GATE 2021 Syllabus

The GATE Syllabus  will be given by the official authority. There will be two new subjects (Environmental Science & Engineering and Humanities & Social Sciences) in the syllabus of GATE 2021.
